Planning A Solo Gay Getaway
No matter how awesome the city you live in is, it’s great to take a break and try a new adventure. Whether you’re headed to New York for a weekend of parties or Cancun for a weekend of relaxation, you’re going there to have fun and blow off some steam. Sometimes when you wanna travel you don’t always have someone to go with, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have an awesome time. These tips will help you get the most out of your solo vacation, no matter where you are.
1. Bring Clothes You Can’t Wait To Wear
One of the hardest parts about getting ready for a trip is packing, especially if you suddenly hate your entire wardrobe. You don’t want to get to your destination and feel like you have nothing to wear, even after packing all night. You should be excited to dip into your suitcase, so it needs to be packed with all kinds of goodies. I like to buy a few new things, even if it’s just some lower end accessories. That way when I’m exploring I feel confident and photogenic. Pack a few pairs of new underwear too, just in case your night ends as well as you hope.
2. Tell Everyone In Town
If you love the lines, then record a new greeting to tell all the guys on the chatline you’re in town. If you’re more of an app guy, then refresh your profile photo and let the guys know you are looking for adventure. Every city has all kinds of guided tours but there’s nothing better than a night on the town with someone sexy.
3. Plan Something Every Day
You don’t have to plan an epic to-do list of city sights, all you need to do is plan to leave the house. If you pick a hotspot or nightclub for every day, you won’t have to worry about what to do next. You could ignore your list or lose it completely, but building the list will get you excited for your trip and give you a sense of what the city has to offer.
4. See A Drag Show, Even A Bad One
When I went to Las Vegas for my 21st birthday, the only drag show in town was an all-Spanish Miss America pageant. I do not speak a lick of Spanish but I had more fun than I would have if I understood it. Drag shows are always fun, and even the worst ones rock because bad drag is hilarious. So whether you speak the language of the locals or not, find your local queens!
5. Showcase Your Accent
You may think that their accents make them sexy, but they are probably thinking the same about yours. You may not be a solid ten but if you show the locals your exotic flair they’ll start lining up. When I went to New Zealand I was blown away by people’s fixation with my very Canadian (and in my opinion, boring) accent. If you haven’t called into your local chatline, that’s a great way to show off the sexiness of your voice.
6. Try Something New
You may not go clubbing all evening or skinny dipping all night, but your alter ego might. You’re in a new city where no one knows what you would or wouldn’t do, so do something awesome. Now’s one of your few chances to see what it’s like to say yes to life. So say yes to as many things as you can, and ignore your conscience for the weekend.
7. Change Up Your Look
If you usually part your hair to the left, try the right this time, or better yet, go blonde! Whether it’s big or small, make a change that makes you feel like you are a fresh slate. I know a bear who rocks a big beard all year round but when he heads to Palm Springs he shaves it down to the classic pornstache. Whether it’s as drastic as a man bun or as simple as a new pair of shades, you’ll feel like you’re ready to take on the world!
